Get a Library Card

SAILS cards: A SAILS library card must be presented to borrow library materials and to access library computers. Library cards are issued free of charge to Massachusetts residents at the library's circulation desk. Just complete a registration form and present a license or other photo ID and proof of address. Your card is good at any library in the SAILS network.

Kids and teens: Children under 12 must register for cards in the children's room. Teens age 13-17 should register at the circulation desk or with the young adult librarian. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their card.

Out of state cards: Residents of other states (including Rhode Island) may obtain a SAILS library card free if they own property in or work in Massachusetts. Otherwise, there is a $75 out-of-state card fee. Ask at the circulation desk.

Any Massachusetts resident or visitor may use Fall River Public Library's resources in the library. Out-of-state visitors may obtain a temporary guest pass to use internet computers upon presenting ID.

There is a $5 fee for the replacement of lost library cards.

Temporary e-cards: You can sign up for a temporary library card online to start using digital resources right away. These cards expire in three weeks. You should come to the library to get a permanent card in order to check out books, DVDs and other non-digital items. Please note: you will not be able to check out physical material with a temporary card.
