Fall River Public Library
If you live in Massachusetts and have a SAILS library card, you can access public library resources 24/7, free from your home or school computer.
To look for books, CDs, and DVDs, search the SAILS catalog (using your library card and PIN, usually the last 4 digits of your phone number). You can search by subject, title, or keyword. Search for eBooks with Overdrive.
You can also look here to search magazine and newspaper articles, online encyclopedias, and reference e-books. Try the Health Reference Center to start, and look for other links for nursing, sports medicine/physical therapy, and psychology. You can do a keyword search across multiple collections.
The library has a binder of Lyme Disease resources available in the reference room, compiled by the Nahant Public Library in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Online help is also available at The Lymebrary.
Confused about medical tests? Are they necessary? What are the benefits and risks? Choosing Wisely is an excellent guide for this type of question.
Looking for health insurance? The Massachusetts health connector is here, and the Rhode Island connector can be found here. For ratings and reviews of health plans, visit our reference department. Consumer Reports has some helpful information as well.
These additional resources are available for Fall River Public Library cardholders only:
Magill's Medical Guide is a complete online medical encyclopedia.
Psychology and Mental Health is a full-text, online guide to many aspects of psychology.
