The library is closed Saturdays during the summer (from mid-June through Labor Day).
The Fall River Public Library, located at 104 North Main Street, was founded in 1861 and began operations at the 104 North Main Street location in 1899.
A Little Free Library is located on the front lawn of the library for anyone to "take a book, leave a book."
The East Branch, formerly located on Pleasant Street, was opened in the 1970s and closed in 2015.
The South Branch was founded in 1966, was formerly located on South Main Street, and moved to 58 Arch Street for a larger, more accessible building in 2014. Unfortunately, the library's lease on the building was not renewed, and the South Branch closed its doors on December 18, 2020. The South Branch staff have joined us at the Main Library.
What's Next? There are no plans to reopen the branches at this time. Instead, we are in the process of getting a Bookmobile to offer library service at different community locations.
